The aim is to increase the amount of affordable housing for rent, to give half-empty or unused housing a second life, and to make housing more accessible for young people To make this possible, the programme positions itself as a mediating agent between the two interested parties: the owners of the empty or semi-empty housing and the young people interested in renting one. It establishes contact between them, helps them with the administrative procedures involved in the rehabilitation and/or rental of the housing, and offers two economic advantages 1) free insurance against non-payment during the first year, and 2) the energy performance certificate. Owners of unused or semi-empty housing simply list theirs in a database of available housing stock and set the length of time they wish to rent it (one, three or five years) as well as the modality (for a few months, a full year or to share, if the owner lives in the house). In the meantime, possible new tenants must formally apply to the programme requesting interest in housing. Once the rental price has been agreed and the contract with the owners has been signed, they can move into their new accommodation.

A model that enables school canteens to serve organic, locally sourced meals without raising prices. The initiative involves a series of complementary activities to make it work: 1) changing procurement policies to enable publicly funded schools to prioritise organic local produce; 2) working with local producers to ensure a reliable supply of organic produce; 3) training canteen staff; 4) initiatives to reduce school food waste, which can by themselves offset the extra costs of purchasing organic produce and 5) raising pupil and family awareness of the benefits of organic food. Biocanteens is thus an integrated solution that brings together people working in education, local businesses, territorial planning and food, as well as families and associations.

Village cinema screenings involve projecting a film in a local municipal building in order to offer cultural and social opportunities to potentially isolated local inhabitants. Film screenings can be organised in collaboration with the local community to select both the films and the dates on which they are to be shown, and adapted to suit both younger and adult audiences. One of the main aims of the cinema screenings is community building, so additional programme of activities is usually organised before and/or after showing the film. This often includes tea, coffee & snacks, talks by invited speakers (linked to the theme of the film) or discussions after the screening on what was seen in order to generate interaction and connections between local residents. Cinema screenings can also be used to communicate and/or discuss other community news or initiatives. Specific screenings for children should be accompanied by games and learning activities and can be organised together with any local schools.
